A former officer in the U.S. foreign service, author and attorney Otho Eskin https://othoeskin.com/, wrote a timely new thriller set in D.C. called, “Black Sun Rising” which came out in June. He is based in Washington, D.C. and “Black Sun Rising” is the fourth novel in his Marko Zorn series, but it can be read as a standalone book. Otho is from D.C.
