Main Gallery - Bilingual StoryWalk

12/8-12/29 Visit our new bilingual StoryWalk® in the Fitzgerald Gallery during library hours. The Latin Grammy winning duo 123 Andrés has released their new book One Elephant / Un Elefante and they are excited to share it with us. One Elephant/Un Elefante brings the lyrics of a traditional latin american nursery rhyme to life with a twist. Ignite your imagination, engage in language play, numeracy skills, early literacy and movement. Sing, read, walk and count your way through this rhyme. Will the spider web be strong enough to hold 5 little elephants? Stop in to find out. Don't forget to scan the QR codes for an interactive reading of the book in English and Spanish. You can place a hold on the book here. It is also available on Hoopla too. Pick up a craft activity in the Children's Room to continue the fun at home. Keep your eyes peeled for a family Musicuentos Author Fiesta with 123 Andrés @ Warner in January 2026.

The Meaning of the Lighthouse

The lighthouse offers a sense of direction. It tells you that you’re not lost. The lighthouse is a fixture. It has a constant place and a constant role: to give us a point of reference when we might not have a sense of our way. The lighthouse doesn’t do it for us. It doesn’t tell us the way. But it gives us an indication so that you can decide. The lighthouse isn’t a natural creation. It is a human creation. It is not a monument to be revered but rather a signal that all can receive. It is one of the oldest embodiments of our care and regard for our fellow human beings. It is a living symbol of the fact that we think it is right for others to be able to find their way.

It tells you that there is safety, security, that there is a boundary to where the journey can end.
