Program Description

Event Details

At its completion in 1924, the Bear Mountain Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world (for about 19 months) and the first automobile bridge to cross the Hudson River south of Albany. It also surpassed the 1888 Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge as the southernmost crossing of the river.

In this lecture, historian Frank Goderre will discuss the history of this iconic bridge using many rarely-seen photographs.

This event will take place on the 3rd Floor of the Library.
