Playland is one of two amusement parks in America that wears the prestigious title of “National Historic Landmark.” It’s a well-deserved honor, as this extraordinary place is a marvel of architectural and landscape design that has entertained and delighted crowds for nearly 100 years. This richly illustrated digital slide presentation by Barbara Davis will show how Playland Park was conceived and developed in an unbelievable amount of time and with a pioneering design. The novel entertainment, enduring rides, and amazing attractions will also be featured, as well as the celebrities who have joined in on the park’s fun over the years.
Barbara Davis is the Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society and the City Historian of New Rochelle. Since 1993, she has served on the Westchester County Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, which advises on all county-owned historically significant properties, including Playland!
