This series discusses the mechanism of action of food on the body and its healing abilities. Ayurveda views the
mind and body as interconnected. Mental health is closely aligned to the balance of the three doshas. An
imbalance in any one dosha will affect the physiological and psychological aspects of the entire body. Vata
imbalance (air/space = movement) can lead to anxiety, restlessness, irregular thought patterns; Pitta
imbalance (fire/water = transformation) can lead to irritability, anger, perfectionism; Kapha imbalance
(earth/water = stability) can lead to lethargy and depression. Ayurveda’s personalized approach to imbalances
allows for uniquely specific treatments and more highly successful outcomes. Diet is pivotal in this approach.
