Event Details

Led by author Patrick Bringley, this virtual journey through the Metropolitan Museum of Art will allow us to travel over continents and across millennia, discussing sacred objects from five of the Met’s curatorial departments: Egyptian Art, Greek and Roman Art, African Art, Islamic Art, and European Paintings.

This virtual tour will define sacred art, and what it means to different communities and civilizations and include a stop at the famous Egyptian Temple of Dendur, a look at drinking paraphernalia from a Greek symposium, a Quran the size of a walnut, and Early Renaissance paintings of the Adoration and Lamentation of Christ.

Hosted on Zoom. Free and open to all. Register here: https://bit.ly/sacredartmet.

All the Beauty in the World, Patrick Bringley’s memoir about his ten years working as a guard at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, brings new meaning to the term “art appreciation.” Copies of the book are available through the Westchester Library System: https://opac.westchesterlibraries.org/Record/5265615.

This program is a collaboration between Warner Library, Croton Free Library, John C. Hart Memorial Library, and Putnam Valley Library.
