DESCRIPTION:So many of the places we choose for “eating out” experienc
es have wonderful settings in historic buildings. A few have been places t
o gather for food and drink since the 1700s. Others are former farmhouses.
Gilded Age mansions have been repurposed as grand dining establishments,
fit for weddings and other celebratory occasions. Westchester can also cla
im several restaurants that have had wild success in clever adaptive reuse
of older, sometimes unusual, structures. Our restaurants often reflect th
e history of our county, of America. Barbara Davis, Executive Director of
the Westchester County Historical Society, is the guide in this culinary
tour that covers more than three dozen restaurants throughout Westchester,
including the 1740’s Horse and Hound Inn in South Salem, The Fish and t
he Farmer in Purdys, Jean Georges Inn at Pound Ridge, and many others. Th
is program is brought to you by the Westchester County Historical Society
in collaboration with Warner Library, Croton Free Library, John C. Hart Me
morial Library, and Putnam Valley Library.Hosted on Zoom. Free and open to
  all. Register HERE.
